Customer Rating: Summary: Samsung M300 Comment: I got it 3 DAYS AGO. It is just great, nice size, nice function, nice color and sound great. It replaces a bulky old PDA
Customer Rating: Summary: water proof! Comment: My M300 went through a full cycle in my washing machine (I left it in my pants pocket). I let it dry out over night and in the morning it powered up and has been working fine ever since.
The phone is light and compact and gets a great signal. Even after washing it, I only need to charge it overnight about every 2 -3 days.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good looking phone, basic features, easily scratched Comment: This phone is very light-weight and compact. However, it only has minimal features, even for a camera phone. First, you cannot transfer photos via bluetooth. Bluetooth on this phone only works for headsets and using the phone as a modem. It does not play MP3s and it does not capture video.
The main problem I have with this phone is Sprint's so-called "picture messaging" package for $5/month. Despite it's name, it does not include sending or receiving picture messages. Instead it allows you to upload pictures from the M300 to Sprint's website to send photos to people, but only if you buy a data cable and connect it to your computer. You have to pay $15/month for the unlimited data plan to be able to send pictures from the phone.
The way I see it, that $15 package includes other things like Sprint TV which do not work on the m300, there are free phones out there that both take photos and can utilize all the features of the unlimited data plan, get one of those instead.
It's a pretty phone, but it scratches easily and again, it's disappointing if you want to actually send photos.
Customer Rating: Summary: A great value Comment: I've had this phone now for about 2 weeks and can report that the coverage has been excellent. The phone can easily pick up weak signals within the Sprint network area and when I am out of the Sprint network it quickly changes to roaming and the signal strength has been high and connections flawless. As far as battery life is concerned, I get about 4-5 days in standby after a full charge. My talk time has been around 3 hours or so. This phone, while it does not have a lot of high end features (that I would probably never use) it does have the most useful features and the price with a Sprint plan is a fantastic value. Overall, I'd give this one an A- : for what it is. . . a fairly basic phone, great coverage and easy to use.
Customer Rating: Summary: I wouldn't praise it too highly. Comment: This phone is rather decent if you don't plan on talking too much. The battery life isn't awful; it will stay alive for two days at best, that's without talking on the phone for more than an hour a day.
I loved the compactness of this phone, and the user interface was pretty straightforward. It was also very durable; it was dropped a good number of times without any visible scratches, and it even went through an entire wash cycle. There was slight water damage to the inside of the screen, but the battery is sealed nicely in there so after it stood under the hairdryer for a while, I was able to use it normally again.
The external screen is nice and sleek but prone to smudging and fingerprints. A minor detail, but a small pet peeve of mine.
The only major drawback to this phone was texting. Every time I would type in a certain word or symbol, the phone would freeze up! After about two minutes it would unfreeze, but most of the time I would have to take the battery out and restart the phone. I hated it, especially if i was in the middle of a long text!! I would have to type it all over again.
The other drawback to texting was when using T9, the different word options only pop up after a 3-letter word. So when typing 2-letter words that use the same sequence of two keys, like 'of' & 'me', or 'on' & 'no', I'd have to switch to the alphabet mode, type the word, then switch back to T9 mode. THAT was also very annoying.
All in all, an okay phone, if you plan on using it only when you need to.
