It is replacement/addition for existing one - now I have two handsets. New has 5 years to go :) . I based my opinion on the existing handset. Old is giving me a hard time due to dialing keys: when you push a button it does not responds, or dials dbl, triple. It took 6 YEARS, till it started failing. Now old one is just for answering calls.

got new cordless phone at good price from Amazon, it works great, better than before, will consider adding another one on to the system, thanks.

Summary: Excellent phone... excellent price.
Comment: I purchased my original phone system about 7 years ago. The "talk" button on each hand set has recently all but stopped working. Considering how much we use the phone, this can be expected in my opinion. I love this phone system. Excellent features. Now since I have replaced the handsets, I expect to get another 7 plus years out of it.

Comment: I am a Sony fan but in this case I am making an exception. I completely agree with the other feedbacks regarding the buttons issue.

I have been using this phone for almost 3 years and I really like the phone except when the number is not in memory or the other side asks me to push 1 for english! I just cannot get it to dial the 1, 2 or the 3 buttons.

Summary: A great phone for a good price
Comment: When my original phone's performance started to suffer from probably being dropped that "one too many times", I decided to get this phone and use the original one as a spare. The new hanset made it like starting with a whole new phone system again. Since you can add up to 4 phones, I should have this system for a long time. I love my Sony Phones !!!!!
